When you Book Qatar Airways flights, receiving a suitable baggage allowance from the airline depending upon your ticket type is a guarantee. Though your flight route also affects the baggage allowance for you, enough amount of baggage can be carried along.
Here’s everything you need to know about the baggage allowance policy of Qatar Airways.
Baggage allowance with Qatar Airways
There are two types of baggage that a passenger can carry while traveling with Qatar Airways.
1. Carry-on baggage
Carry-on baggage is the one that you carry inside the flight cabin and store either on top or down of your seat. It is also commonly referred to as ‘hand luggage’. There is a different hand baggage allowance policy for different travel classes;
First class.
First-class passengers are allowed up to two bags of 15 kg (or 33lb) weight combined for hand luggage.
Business class.
Passengers of business class also have the same hand luggage allowance policy as first-class passengers i.e., 2 bags of 15 kg (or 33lb) in total.
Economy class.
Economy class travelers can only carry one bag of 7 kg (or 15lb) weight maximum as their hand luggage.
2. Checked-in baggage
Checked-in baggage is the type of baggage that you check in to the airline. It is stored in the specific storage compartment of the aircraft and can only be accessed before departure or after arrival by the passengers.
In addition to the type of travel class, the checked baggage policy of Qatar Airways also depends upon the route of your flight.
First class.
Flights that have an African or American bound route; two bags with a maximum weight of 32kg (or 70lb) each.
Flights to the rest of routes across the globe; only one bag of a maximum of 50kg (or 110lb) weight.
Business class.
There are three types of business class seats and the baggage allowance for all of them differs as well.
Flights that have an African or American-bound route; o Business classic seat; two bags with a maximum weight allowance of 32kg (or 70lb) per piece. o Business Comfort seat; two bags with a maximum weight allowance of 32kg (or 70lb) per piece. o Business Elite seat; two bags with a maximum weight allowance of 32kg (or 70lb) per piece.
Flights to the rest of routes across the globe; o Business classic seat; only one bag of 40kg (or 88lb) weight maximum. o Business Comfort seat; only one bag of 40kg (or 88lb) weight maximum. o Business Elite seat; only one bag of 40kg (or 88lb) weight maximum.
Economy class.
The economy class also has three different categories of seats.
Flights that have an African or American-bound route; o Economy classic seat: two bags of 23kg (or 50lb) weight maximum (each). o Economy Convenience seat; two bags of 23kg (or 50lb) weight maximum (each). o Economy comfort seat; two bags of 23kg (or 50lb) weight maximum (each).
Flights to the rest of routes across the globe; o Economy classic seat; only one bag of maximum weight of 25 kg (or 55lb). o Economy convenience seat; only one bag of maximum weight of 30 kg (or 66lb). o Economy comfort seat; only one bag of maximum weight of 35 kg (or 77 lb).
So, for a majority of Qatar Airways ticket prices, the airline offers 2 bag allowance for checked-in baggage only. However, first/business class passers can also carry two bags for their hand baggage, unlike economy class passengers.
